In Celebration of National Poetry Month
April is national poetry month, and in celebration of that, I will be donating 100% of all the profits I make from my books this month to the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation. I wanted to post this yesterday. However, being April Fool’s Day, I didn’t want people to write it off.
The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation is dedicated to furthering research that will help further our understanding and the treatment of mental illness. Finding a way to aid people in the fight against the demons who reek havoc in their mind, whatever form they take, is something I believe is the upmost importance.
I was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder a few years back, and was–as ashamed as I am to admit it–an alcoholic nearly six years. It took a DUI and some great friends to lift me up out of that pit in which I had fallen. But I could have killed someone, or myself all because I was afraid of my own mind, hated it even. That is something that I would never wish upon another person.
There are millions of people out in this wild world, probably more, who are suffering alone. They wander the maze of their dark thoughts alone. Looking up from the pits of Hell and gazing at the sanity that is Heaven wishing to lay in greener grasses at peace instead of curling up upon the fire and brimstone bed their minds have created.
We need to help these people. Now, if you rather just donate to the Brain & Behavior Foundation, that’s just fine. Click the link above and donate. Now, I’m not a rich man, but I can give the spoils of my work to the researchers aiming to aid those suffering.
To purchase a copy of my books, just click here. At the end of the month I will announce how much we have raised and will be donating it in memory of all those who suffer.
No one should be afraid of their own mind.
