Something Sinister This Way Comes

Something Sinister This Way Comes

The title should well explain that dark things are brewing. First of those dark dealings is a new book Something Beautiful. It is the first book in a duology called The Monster. I’m very excited about this, and I’ve loved writing it. The first draft is finished, and I’m working through the first set of revisions. Once that is said and done, I will be sending it out to my Alpha readers to get feedback, polish things, and fill in plot holes and the like. What is Something Beautiful you ask? Imagine a story about a monster who devours human souls. Sound familiar? Of course it does. It’s a very common character trope for a story, but I’m doing a twist on the norm. The protagonist is the monster. It lives in secret, and seeks to devour souls until the end of humanity without interruption. While I’m sure this (or something like it) has been done before, I have always wanted to try my hand at a story following the monster with all their hideous faults and questionable virtues. In essence, I want to write a story where you’re cheering on the monster despite the horrors that define them. This is a theme I much enjoy. After all, I’m writing an epic poem where Lucifer is the hero. Because no matter whether you’re evil or good, you’re the hero of your own story. Plus, I love telling the tale through the “villain’s” eyes.

Speaking of The Epic of Lucifer, I’m 75% finished with my second round of edits. Expecting to release book 3 in the series “The Beasts of Earth and Sea” later this year. I’m also hoping that Something Beautiful (Book One of THE MONSTER DUOLOGY) won’t be too far behind, but I’m estimating its release to be in early 2019.

My New Year’s Resolution was to write 2000 words a day (not to mention read 30 books), and I’m happy to say that I’ve been sticking well to that. Looking forward to release a minimum of 2 books a year in the coming years. These of course will be a mixture of epic poems and novels.
