The Reviewer: The Wind-up Bird Chronicles by Haruki Murakami (Translated by Jay Rubin)
This book is weirdly Beautiful. A narrative that flows in a surreal, dream-like stream of consciousness. From page one it pulls you in with it’s strange energy like a siren calling you into the deepest part of the ocean, and once fully submerged you become lost until the story ends, the siren releases you, and you can take a deep breath. Many times throughout this story I had to set the book down and simply allow my mind to soak in the scene I had just read. Never have I read anything like this. A true original piece of work that has me wanting to devour Murakami’s entire catalog of books.
